Where the numbers come from.
Every figure on this site is an estimate or illustrative example — never a verified result, never a guarantee. Here's exactly how we produce them, what we don't claim, and how we fix mistakes.
1. Supplier pricing checks (cost estimates)
Equipment, licensing ballparks, insurance ranges, and SaaS costs are estimated from publicly listed vendor catalogs, filing-fee schedules, and pricing pages. We re-check periodically. Prices change — always confirm with the vendor before budgeting.
2. Public industry benchmarks (margin & demand context)
Margins and customer-acquisition context are compared against publicly available industry reports and trade publications. Benchmarks describe industries, not your business — your results will differ.
3. Illustrative example scenarios (worked math)
Each idea page includes a labeled example scenario showing how revenue, costs, and margins could combine. These are teaching examples, not real founders, not case studies, and not evidence of typical results.
What we report on every idea page
- Estimated startup range: lean estimate + suggested budget across 6 cost categories
- Example net margins (after illustrative expenses), not guaranteed income
- Example monthly revenue range, average transaction value, illustrative time to first revenue, estimated break-even
- A "Financial Assumptions" box explaining what the numbers assume — and what could break them
- A "Research & Sources" section describing inputs; figures without a reliable source are labeled "illustrative estimate"
What we explicitly don't do
- No guaranteed income, profit, or timeline claims — anywhere.
- No fake founders, testimonials, reviews, credentials, or citations. Example scenarios are always labeled.
- No presenting estimates as audited figures, insider data, or guaranteed outcomes.
- No financial, legal, or tax advice — content is educational. See our disclaimer.
Review cadence & corrections
We review figures periodically and each idea page shows its last-updated date. Data can go stale (vendors reprice, fees change). Found an outdated figure? Tell us with the page URL and a source — we verify, fix, and timestamp the change.
